Rural Colorado is home to a diverse array of fossil fuel production, large-scale renewable energy development, and backyard and on-farm clean energy. It is served by a mix of investor-owned, municipal, and rural utilities. Socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds vary widely.

This diversity provides a fertile breeding ground for testing new energy ideas. As part of CSU’s land-grant mission, the Rural Energy Center uses research, assessments, and engagement to help rural Colorado make more informed energy decisions. We focus our efforts around finding and disseminating sustainable energy solutions.
